Bengal Association of Hotels and Restaurants (BAHR) formed for the Growth and Development of the Hospitality Industry in Bengal

The hospitality industry in Bengal will now have a new parent body with the formation of the Bengal Association of Hotels and Restaurants (BAHR). Spearheaded by Dr. Suborno Bose, as the Chairman, BAHR is a consortium formed with the aim of bringing together all hotels and restaurants of West Bengal.

Keeping in mind the development and progress of the hospitality industry of West Bengal, BAHR will act as the collective voice for hotels and restaurants in the state. A non-government association, BAHR will represent the ambassadors of the industry who induce integrity and quality of work in the field of hotels and restaurants management across all districts of West Bengal.

On April 22, 2022, at the International Food Festival, the honourable Minister, Smt. Chandrima Bhattacharya, MIC (Independent Charge) of Finance Department, Government of West Bengal, and honourable Minister, Sri Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, Minister for Agriculture, Government of West Bengal officially inaugurated BAHR, the platform in the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan.

On this occasion Smt. Bhattacharya said, “Bengal always supports progress in Business along with innovations. In the coming days, she is hopeful that BAHR can bring both together and help Bengal to grow more in the Food & Hospitality sector.”

In the bigger picture, BAHR aims to put Bengal’s hospitality sector in the Indian economy and act a platform to address the industry’s progress strategies and issues and form a solid platform for employment generation and sustainable economic and social development. BAHR has an important role to play in the Tourism sector as well, promoting food and hospitality within and outside West Bengal.

BAHR’s long-term mission is to build a new brand of Bengal that highlights the food and hospitality sector creating a destination for both foreign and domestic tourists. This will eventually provide better opportunities for the legendary players of the industry and new and innovative creators in the industry.

Dr. Suborno Bose, Chairman, and CEO of Indismart Group said, “BAHR will be a collective forum for hotels and restaurants in West Bengal where there will be extensive discussions and exchange of ideas that will lead to the progress and development of the Food and Hospitality industry in the state. As the national body, this will be Bengal’s association that will address issues at a more micro level; we hope to put Bengal’s Hotels and Restaurants on the Indian Hospitality map very soon.”

Mr. Debaditya Chaudhury, the Secretary-General, BAHR and Managing Director of Chowman, Oudh 1590 & Chapter 2, added, “BAHR is a great initiative that will bring all hotels and restaurants of Bengal under one umbrella. Such an association will address localized problems and also encourage and support the growth of entrepreneurs that will add to the development of the Hospitality industry in Bengal.
